I enjoy what I do. I started doing sex work by choice. I started in the sex industry because my sex worker friends were proud, informed and intelligent people, and they inspired me. I wasn't short of money (more than usual, anyway).
I wasn't trafficked. I wasn't 'pimped'. I have never been sexually assaulted.
I am not a victim. I am not your statistic.
I may have chronic depression, but it has nothing to do with sex work (besides the stigma associated with my profession).
I had depression long before I was a sex worker. I had depression as a child.
I believe this is a combination of isolation, upbringing and genetics. I believe it relates to the stigma associated with 'homosexuality'.
